Tenement & Native Title Manager
Diya started her mining tenement management career in 2010 when she joined TAS. Since her first step into the mining world, Diya has acquired a wealth of knowledge which she uses on a daily basis to an exceptionally high standard. It is Diya’s aptitude and consistency in her work standards that has enabled her to build up a network of clients who use her as their first point of contact regarding a range of tenement matters.
Some of Diya’s key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and lodgment of Statutory Requirements prescribed by the DMP (e.g. Form 5, Form 18, Statutory Declarations and Affidavits);
- Management of due dates and advising clients on appropriate action to take on tenement compliance during the tenure of the tenement;
- Development and maintenance of business relationships with external stakeholders;
- Management of internal databases;
- Applying for new tenements and maintaining the 14 and 28 day compliance requirements as prescribed by the Mining Act 1978;
- Utilizing Tengraph and Mineral Titles Online to map tenements and monitor the progress of lodgments on tenement (i.e. Surrenders, Transfers and Caveats) and;
- Monitoring and updating changes to Combined Reporting Groups (CRG).
While Diya has a fantastic general knowledge of the mining industry, she uses her skills more specifically in dealings with Native Title negotiation and issue resolution.
This is a demanding role that includes:
- contract management with existing clients;
- preparation of agreements between parties;
- attending National Native Title Tribunal status updates and listing hearings;
- negotiating contract terms and particulars; and
- liaising with key stakeholders such as the Native Title Representative Bodies, Department of Mines and Petroleum and Department Of Indigenous Affairs.
Diya is a great asset to the TAS team and is always willing to assist clients and team members alike with any queries and issues which may arise.
